“Words are my weapons just like silence is my enemy. When I write I aim to shock and awe the darkness which previously mocked and gnawed at my self belief. When you allow the light to enter your life you can never truly be alone again.”
-Stephen Black, “The Familiar,” Fractured Faith Blog
Very clever quote.

They’re usually fairly inspirational, even the ones regarding ice cream.

I liked this quote very much. Especially, “Words are my Weapon just like silence is my enemy.” I think most writers feel that way. As long as we write, there is no silence at all. Our imagination weaves together words in just the right pattern. Creating a melody thatbecomes music of the mind.
I am not sure what this author specifically is referring to regarding light. (I’m not familiar with his work.) If it’s Art,knowledge, creativity, nature or faith. “The light” can have a different meaning to each of us. Never the less, I liked the quote and found it touching.

I also liked his phrasing of silence, writing, and ‘speaking.’ I am much more eloquent when I can type, compared to conversation. 🙂
Follow the link and read his article. Stephen was writing about the familiar things in life, and I believe it is they that are his light against a past of dark decisions.

Yes, I find the older I get the easier it is for me to express myself in writing, whereas in my younger days I could equally speak with the same eloquence-in fact even better out loud. That used to be my real talent. Giving lectures, teaching, performing, and spontaneously interacting in front of a group. However, after a few years in retirement I find that words come to me more easily as I type. I think perhaps I’m just out of practice. Now I definitely write better than I speak.

Valid point. 🙂 Teachers definitely need to think on their toes.
