Immediately brought to mind are βShall I compare thee to a Summerβs day?β and those comparison websites which only increase my indecisiveness. LikeLiked by 1 person

Good point! Trying to improve based on a writing tactic or way of expression is good, but the comparison is not. LikeLiked by 1 person
Also an idea for a future terrible poetry contest: Ode to Ben Franky, the inventor of daylight savings time. Ugh. And yes I mean Benjamin Franklin. LikeLiked by 1 person
How does Juliet compare to the warmth and light of the sun, to the enchantment of the full moon, to the blue beyond the clouds? Those wonders are far away, but with lights in blue eyes, with kisses Juliet is as close as God would have us be. But I wonder about Marie in the storm: she is prettier in comparison, more exciting like a lightning strike Marie thinks I’m like thunder, Juliet feels that I’m rain They both like the other John for now but they both write a lot of “Dear John” letters And the new John is much better than the old John. Shall I compare them or butter-up my betters LikeLiked by 1 person

How does Juliet compare
to the warmth and light of the sun,
to the enchantment of the full moon,
to the blue beyond the clouds?
Those wonders are far away, but
with lights in blue eyes, with kisses
Juliet is as close as
God would have us be.
But I wonder about
Marie in the storm:
she is prettier in comparison,
more exciting like a lightning strike
Marie thinks I’m like thunder,
Juliet feels that I’m rain
They both like the other John for now
but they both write a lot of “Dear John” letters
And the new John is much better than the old John.
Shall I compare them or
butter-up my betters
