“So, whaddya like to do?” Dumb! Why did you ask that?
“Um, well, I like reading.” Crap! Now he’s going to think I sit at home and knit.
“Oh. Reading.” And probably knitting.
Say something; say something. “So, what do you like to do?”
“Me?” Think of something impressive. “Uh; not much. Mostly I …” Impressive! “I …like movies.”
“Oh.”
She’s not impressed.
“I …I like movies, too.” Like everybody does… “What’s a favorite?”
Say it. You’ve bombed the date anyway. “Actually; Big Trouble in Little China.”
What?? “No way. Me, too!”
“No way!”
“Way.”
“So… wanna go get Chinese?”

I can relate to the awkwardness…maybe a little too much. 😀

Reading, writing and cooking. I’ll be damned if I go whitewater rafting just to impress a woman…

😀 That’s fine. You ought to go for a woman who is literate and hungry anyway.

Well, hungry is easy to find…

Funny stuff, Chelsea. There’s a special kind of awkwardness with a first date. First, there’s the “I’m blowing if feeling,” Then there’s that “how the hell am I ever going to get out of here feeling?”😎

I know! So much awkwardness. I hope I don’t ever have to go through it again!

I was so wooden. Completely useless. That’s why I used to talk to the plant pot in the corner.

My husband told me it was an epic one. Are you telling me he exaggerated? 😉

I just found it a bit cringey. I think if you saw it long ago and have nostalgia, it works, but otherwise I have my doubts.
