I couldn’t find my happiness
It wasn’t in its place
Not here
Nor there
It’d disappeared
Or hadn’t ever been…
“I’ll find it yet!” I said
I swore
Then sat in Thinker pose
But
-Although I checked behind
Below
Beneath
Bereaved?
I couldn’t find my happiness
Although
I found my sock.

Pretty sure John influenced this one.

Reuniting two socks might kick-start a bout of happiness…

Yes! Never underestimate the power of a good sock!

Now all you’ve got to do is find the other sock and then you’ll be truly happy.

Perhaps. But I was talking about happiness. If it isn’t in your sock, it is probably under a couch cushion…

😀 My sock was on my foot. And I found a little happiness in the pantry…

Socks are pretty close to happiness unless they are the dreaded toe sock

😀 I wanted those to work so badly! …darned webbed toes.

You have webbed toes? Does it help with swimming?

No. *sigh* I only doggy-paddle.

Reminds me that I need to see if my dog can swim… it would be hilarious either way.

Ha. Elusive .. happiness, like romance, is well… overrated.

Socks, however, are never overrated.

I’ve reread this fun little piece and am honoured by your references; yes I do spot me in this poem but you’ve put your own twist on it; the aussie band, Powderfinger, made an iconic hit on ‘My Happiness’: it’s a great topic

I started out entirely me, then realized it was trying to be more John-ish -most definitely by the end.

The bible gives us sure advice on how to truly be happy physically, mentally and spiritually.❤️
Mathew 5:3:-Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the Kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.
Psalms 1:1-Happy is the man who does not walk according to the advice of the wicked And does not stand on the path of sinners And does not sit in the seat of scoffers.
Mathew 5:5-Happy are the mild-tempered, since they will inherit the earth.
