Sar hadn’t asked for the label. Yet it read the words, printed as real as antique monitor messages, across the eyes of its odious foreperson, Grug: Safebreaker’s Daughter.
Safebreaker?
Daughter?
Sar was neither. It knew that its donors had worked as Chief Containment Coders, and it was as sex neutral as the suncycle it’d slid from Birthing to Intubating.
Still, Sar would do Grug’s dirty work. The barely-above-cyborg-level-of-computing foreperson forgot one imperative fact: that Sar, like all others of its training, always ran monitoring equipment.
It wondered what excuses Grug would blubber to the High Council later. Sar smiled.
